Year 1 Term1
- The first term will focus on Music Performance Techniques the mandatory unit. Students will explore a range of techniques for their chosen instrument.
- Students will complete workshops on the key skills for their instruments and complete a number of performance log books.
- There will be a final assessment and write up for this unit. Students will be expected to perform demonstrating three varying performance techniques.
Year 1 Term2
Students will be given guidance and workshops on the following optional units. They will be provided with briefs and complete one of their choosing:
- Aural Perception Skills
- Classical Music in Practice
- Composing Music
- Improvising Music
- Music in the Community
- Music Performance Session Styles
Year 1 Term3
Students will be given guidance and workshops on the following optional units. They will be provided with briefs and complete one of their choosing:
- Improvising Music in a Jazz Style
- Listening Skills for Music Technologists
- Live Music Workshop
- Marketing and Promotion in the Music Industry
- Working and Developing as a Musical Ensemble
- Singing Techniques and Performance
Year 2 Term1
Students will be given guidance and workshops on the following optional units. They will be provided with briefs and complete one of their choosing:
- Modern Music in Practice
- Music Project
- Musical Theatre Performance
- Pop Music in Practice
- Solo Music Performance Skills
Year 2 Term2
Students will be given guidance and workshops on the following optional units. They will be provided with briefs and complete one of their choosing:
- Studying Music from Around the World
- The Music Freelance World
- The Sound and Music Industry
- Special Subject Investigation
