English Action Plan (School Closure)
We have been working on Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet and all work will be focused on the text. We have a booklet that contains the tasks. Individual teachers will explain how much each class needs to do. Students can either type their work, or write it on paper. Students should focus on understanding the text and what happens. Creative work will be rewarded with achievement points. All work will be set on Edulink.

Students have started An Inspector Calls, one of the set texts for GCSE and the work is focused on extending each students understanding of the text. It is important that work is completed to a high standard, as it will form revision materials for your GCSE. Students will need an awareness of the plot, theme and characters and how Priestly uses language and was influenced by the context. All work will be set on Edulink.
Year 10 revision should be focused on revising the GCSE set texts. There is a booklet for An Inspector Calls, A Christmas Carol, Unseen Poetry and Romeo and Juliet. There are knowledge organisers for the poetry and conflict poetry. Students need to focus on developing their understanding of: the plot, theme and characters (AO1), the language features (AO2) and the context (AO3) for each text. All work will be set on Edulink.

All year 11 revision is focused on past-paper questions. For English language the best way to improve is to practice, receive feedback, implement that feedback and practice some more. Therefore when students complete questions they should email their work to their teacher who will provide guidance. All work will be set on Edulink.
Students will be using their time to do some self-directed revision with supplied materials to address their weaknesses across the two papers. They will also have set tasks for Unseen poetry as we have just begun this topic. All work will be set on Edulink.
Students will be completing directed essays and submitting them to staff as evidence of their working at grade. They will be doing this for each area of the course. All work will be set on Edulink.
