Years 7 and 8 Admissions for September 2018

Year 9 Admissions for September 2018

If your son/daughter is in Year 8 and would like a place at Sandy Upper School for Year 9, then please go to the following website, where you can access the application form by clicking the box that states ‘Transfer to Upper School 2018':

Again, if you need a paper copy of this form, please call the School’s Admissions Team on 0300 300 8037, and they will send one to you. All forms for admission into Year 7, 8 or 9 must be completed and returned to Central Bedfordshire Council by 31st October 2017.

Students transfer to Sandy Upper School at the start of Year 9. Our students come from a number of local middle and secondary schools. The majority of our students transfer to our Sixth Form and we also welcome applications from external applicants. In addition to the normal transfer point, we welcome in-year admissions. Initial contact can be made through the school or directly through Central Bedfordshire Local Authority.

If the number of places in a year group at the school is not sufficient to meet the requests of all the parents, then the following County criteria will be applied (in the rank order shown) to determine how the places will be allocated:

  1. To children ‘looked after’ in the care of Central Bedfordshire Council or resident within the catchment area;
  2. To students living in the catchment area;
  3. To other children ‘looked after’;
  4. On ‘very exceptional’ medical grounds;
  5. To siblings of students currently attending the school;
  6. To any other children
